Meet Robert J. Block, D.D.S

Dr. Robert Block is a native Rhode Islander, but grew up across the country and world in a Navy family.  Dr. Block received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry.  At NYU, he was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.  Upon graduation, Dr. Block entered active duty in the United States Navy.  He completed General Practice Residency and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.

After completing his residency, Dr. Block was assigned to the USS George Washington for the aircraft carrier’s 2015 Southern Seas Deployment.  During this tour, he received multiple military awards including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Effectiveness Award, and became qualified as a Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer.  For his final tour, Dr. Block served as the staff oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Naval Health Clinic New England in Newport, RI.  He separated from the Navy after 9 years of active duty service with the final rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Dr. Block enjoys practicing a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including extractions, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, and trauma.  He holds a staff appointment at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Block is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  Dr. Block is a member of the American Dental Association and Rhode Island Dental Association,

Outside the office, Dr. Block spends his time with his wife, two daughters, and son.  Dr. Block enjoys triathlons, golf, and living in the Ocean State.
