Dr. Robert Block is a native Rhode Islander, but grew up across the country and world in a Navy family. Dr. Block graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 2010, where he was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Block entered active duty in the United States Navy where he completed a General Practice Residency and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia.
After completing his training, he was assigned to the USS George Washington for the aircraft carrier’s 2015 Southern Seas Deployment. During this tour, he received military awards including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Effectiveness Award, and became qualified as a Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer. In 2016, Dr. Block was transferred to Naval Health Clinic New England, where he is currently the staff Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Dr. Block is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Block holds staff appointments at Rhode Island Hospital and Newport Hospital.
Outside the office, Dr. Block spends his time with his wife, two daughters, and son. Dr. Block enjoys triathlons, golf, and exploring New England.
